The Effects of Giant inflatable Arches, Entryways, and Mascots

Last month, we’ve probably discussed giant inflatable arches half a dozen times.  We’ve talked about how they can be great as promotional tools, as well as how they can enhance the experience of your spectators at an event.  In today’s post, we’d like to go into more detail about the psychological effects.  (Disclaimer: We are not neurologists or psychologists, so the contents of this post do not constitute expertise in either field.)

One of the main things that make giant inflatable arches, entryways, and mascots powerful is their sheer size.  The human brain has a tendency to tune out most things that it sees on a normal daily basis because paying attention to redundant information is a waste of resources.  For this reason, colorful giant inflatables certainly stick out against more familiar backdrops.  If your daily commute goes past the local university stadium, wouldn’t a giant mascot stick out like a sore thumb against the grey metal and concrete?

The next thing powerful effect comes from the use of giant inflatable arches.  There are actually a few things these do, but one thing they specifically do involves what happens when people walk through it.  Arches are doorways, so when people walk through a giant inflatable arch into their desired venue their memories switch to a new context.  Whatever they were thinking about outside changes upon entering as their brains gear up to record new sensory experiences with a HUGE inflatable.  Granted, the arch won’t be the only door they use, but the hugeness of the inflatable arch provides a ready stimulus to prepare for starting a new experience on a large, positive note.

This leads me to the most important thing to keep in mind when deciding to get giant inflatable arches, entryways, and mascots.  Each of these items represents what your school stands for, whether it’s your logo, mascot, or mixtures of both that are in use.  It’s essentially the same thing as branding.  Fans of your school’s teams have emotionally rooted experiences associated with your school’s symbols.  Giving your fans a surge of nostalgia and a burst of school spirit at the sight of your giant sports inflatables will further burn the memory of your school’s teams into their minds.
